HistoryCETA was born in 2003, with the merger of two groups of people promoting the arts in Grant County. Eagle Creek Arts Council, a small group of visual artists and craftspeople who had been working together since 2001, and Grant County Celebrating the Arts, a similar group dedicated to bring the performing arts to our community, met together early in 2003 and made the decision to pool their resources. Eagle Creek Arts Council had just applied for and been accepted into the Kentucky Arts Council’s Community Arts Development program, which gives a series of yearly grants to beginning arts groups. With that help from the KAC, combined with the valuable community connections that Grant County Celebrating the Arts had already been forming, CETA had a firm foundation and was ready to grow. Since that time it has worked each year to bring a wide variety of experiences in the arts – from drama and music performances to workshops, exhibits of visual arts, and art and craft festivals – to be enjoyed by the residents of Grant County and the surrounding region. |
